SA flays ISAF attack, firing at PM convoy

By ZAMIR SHEIKH September 6, 2008

KARACHI - The Sindh Assembly on Friday unanimously adopted two separate resolutions strongly condemning the attack in South Waziristan Agency by ISAF Forces, offered fateha for the innocent victims of the incident and slammed firing on Prime Minister’s motorcade in Islamabad before the session was prorogued.

The house passed amendments to increase the strength of Standing Committees.

Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro tabled the resolution that reads,” this assembly expresses its deep outrage and condemnation over the indiscriminate killing of 20 people, including 4 minors, during an attack by the International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) in South Waziristan Agency, recognises the incident as an unacceptable attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and strongly recommends that the government approach the federal government to take measures in order to ensure that all out measures are taken so that any and all such attacks are prevented in future,”.

No one either from treasury or from opposition expressed their views and opinion on the resolution though Speaker Nisar Khuhro invited the legislators for discussion on the issue. However, the chair put the resolution to the house, which was carried unanimously.

Earlier, Sindh Information Minister Ms. Shazia Marri requested the house to offer fateha for the innocent people who lost lives in the attack in South Waziristan.

Senior Minister Pir Mazhar ul Haq moved a motion condemning firing on the motorcade of prime minister. The house unanimously approved the motion.
