New High Court CJ a conspiracy by govt
By SHAFI BALOCH August 8, 2008 Malik termed the news regarding the resignation of Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed, as conspiracy to weaken the lawyers’ movement. He said that after winning general election, political parties have disappointed the nation on the issue judges’ reinstatement.
The former PSCBA president further said that deposed judges had sacrificed their career on November-3, 2007 in order to defend the independence of judiciary. He also expressed his satisfaction over the role of the deposed judges in lawyers’ movement. He denied the impression that lawyers’ movement had weakened saying it still retained original spirit and vigour.
Speaking on the occasion, President Sindh High Court Bar Association, Rasheed A Rizvi, alleged that Federal Law Minister Farooq Naek has been hatching conspiracies to divide the lawyers in order to sabotage their movement but he badly failed in his nefarious designs. He also announced to launch civil disobedience movement after 14th August if the deposed judges were not reinstated. He said that it’s time for the legal fraternity, particularly for judges, to remain united for the independence of the judiciary.
Other lawyers’ leaders also spoke on the occasion.
