87 fall prey to target-killing in nine months
By Zamir Sheikh October 7, 2008 In Sukkur Region, only one person belonging to Shia sect was gunned down in sectarian strife.
Well placed sources in sensitive agencies confided to The Nation that except for a few accused who were either arrested on the spot or identified or nominated in the murder case, the assailants remained unidentified till date and police was groping in the dark.
Despite the fact that sensitive agencies have sent daily reports to their high up and other concerned authorities, no action or directives came form them and the case files accumulating in dust. The political/ religious parties only offered condolences to the bereaved families and held condolence meetings but did not pursue cases seriously.
