Millers asked to ensure cheap flour
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER October 7, 2008 KARACHI - The Sindh cabinet, which met with Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in the Chair on Tuesday directed the flour mills to sell the wheat flour at Rs24 per kg forthwith after taking Rs2 as profit on the wheat provided to them by the government.
This was announced by the Information Minister Shazia Marri at a press briefing at the New Sindh Secretariat shortly after the meeting of the cabinet.
She said this is one of the steps that the cabinet discussed and finalised to provide relief to the consumers and remove the shortage of wheat and flour in the province.
She said that flourmills would be provided wheat at Rs22 per kg and after taking Rs2 as profit at per kilo, the mills would be bound to sell it at Rs24 per kg.
The cabinet has decided to closely monitor each flour mill and other units involved in grinding the staple grain so that the flour is given to the people at the agreed price.
