Dictators never wanted free media

By SHAFI BALOCH August 9, 2008

Meanwhile, Amin Khattak said that the people of the country should be aware about the defence matters as it was being practised in other countries where the media were totally free to aware their nations by publishing their defence affairs.

Khattak said that it was observed in the past that the rulers had been kept the nation in darkness about the defence matters. Only sensitive defence matters should be kept secret, while other affairs regarding defence should be made public like funds being provided for the welfare of the Army, and other activities of military organisations.

On the occasion Elahi Bakhsh Baloch of SPO said that the rulers had been observed the free media as threats for them and they had adopted several policies of restricting and curbing the media. “The dictators, who controlled and run the governments illegally and unconstitutionally have never want to see media free.”

Baloch said that it was the time of information and the rulers of the democratic world kept their nations aware of all the issues, now the time has came that the rulers of the country should recognise that reality and allow the masses to be educated on all matters.
