Court annoyed over non-arrest of accused
By SHAFI BALOCH November 8, 2008 KARACHI - The Judicial Magistrate District South Abdul Naeem Memon on Saturday expressed his annoyance over not producing the nominated accused involved in an attempt to murder the PPP co-chairperson and President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari.
The court was told that despite issuing several warrants, the nominated accused including former Inspector General Sindh Police Rana Maqbool, former chairman NAB Saifur Rehman, his brother Mujeebur Rehman, Najaf Mirza and Amin Qureshi have yet to be produced before the court.
The court has directed that it must be confirmed that either the home ministry has received the directives, sent by the court via courier or not. In its directives court mentioned that assistance of Interpol would be sought to make sure whether the accused are arrested or not, who left the country.
The prosecution told the court that since long there has been no progress in this case. While the Sindh home secretary has not contacted Interpol yet regarding the arrest of the said accused.
