Zardari given jail reforms proposals

KARACHI - President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the Chairman Standing Committee Ministry of Interior, Senator Talha Mehmood, to prepare plan for the jail reforms, well-informed sources told The Nation here on Thursday.

In a meeting held at the President House a few weeks ago, he had directed Senator Mehmood to prepare a report highlighting problems of prisoners.

It was also learnt that Senator Talha Mehmood has prepared the proposal for jail reforms and sent its copy to president.

Senator Mehmood mentioned his meeting with President Zardari on September 3 regarding preparation of jail reforms and other related issues.
