SHC notice to Secy on non-compliance with court order

KARACHI (PPI) - Sindh High Court Tuesday issued notice to Secretary (S&M) over non-compliance with court order to promote 53 Senior Auditors of Sales Tax Department.

The direction came on application seeking compliance with court order by respondents filed by Advocate Muhammad Farogh Naseem counsel for petitioners. He submitted respondents appointed over 300 Senior Auditors (BPS-16) to meet challenges of newly introduced VAT mode in Sales Tax Scheme through Federal Public Service Commission.

As per existing rules of Customs & Excise Group, petitioners were entitled to be promoted to next grade after fulfilling requirements, but respondents failed to do so by denying existence of such rules.

SHC on December 12, 2006 disposed petitioners application with observation that petitioners would be allowed benefits, including eligibility for promotion as available to other regular employees in pay scale. The respondents had requested time for implementing said order.
