SHC notice to Secy on non-compliance with court order
September 10, 2008 Advocate Ali Abbas Zaidi submitted on behalf of KCRPA that City District Government Karachi had provided no proper place for bus stops in city. Transporters built illegal bus stands in Lines Area, Taj Complex at MA Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street in Saddar, wherein inter-city buses are parked all across, causing hindrances to smooth flow of vehicular traffic and passers-by.
Advocate Manzoor Ahmed submitted CDGK had adopted certain measures for removal of bus terminals from city.
SHC division bench comprising Justice Muneeb Ahmed Khan & Justice Dr. Rana Muhammad Shamim directed EDO Transport to appear in person on September 24, 2008 and submit report as to what action had been taken. SHC observed if there was no progress, then court will be constrained to call DCO.
Meanwhile, Additional Advocate General Sarwar Khan informed same bench that Baldia bus terminal was in operation and buses had been shifted there. He submitted reply on petition moved by five operators of inter-city, inter-provincial buses, who moved SHC against demolition of their pick up points at Manghopir Road.
AAG stated in such situation petition had become infructuous. The bench dismissed petition due to non-presence of petitioners counsel.
