Fire erupts in Shershah scrap market, 60 shops gutted
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER May 12, 2008 KARACHI - As many as 35 shops have been gutted in a big fire in a scrap market in Karachi's Shershah area on Sunday morning.
This was stated by the Chief Fire Officer of the City District Government Karachi, Ehteshamuddin Siddiqui. He described this as a big fire and stated that 20 fire tenders are fighting the blaze.
Siddiqui said that the fire spread rapidly because of auto parts, tyres etc in the scrap market. He stated that efforts are underway to try and bring the fire under control.
