Nato tanker snatched

KARACHI - A NATO oil tanker was snatched from the jurisdictions of Memon Goth police station when the tanker was on the way to Afghanistan.

Police said that Akhter Rehman, driver of the trailer bearing registration number TLJ-062, left Karachi Port Trust (KPT) for Afghanistan when some six armed men intercepted him at Magsi Goth Link Road, Super Highway.

They tied the driver to rope and taken the trailer to some unknown place. They beat the driver and threw him into the bushes before escape. The oil tanker was carrying some 46,000 litre’s oil worth 3 million rupees. Later the trailer found empty from the limits of Shah Latif police station. However police registered an FIR 206/2008 under section 395 against the unknown culprits, 0.1 million cash and two mobile phones.
