Zardari orders for new jail manuals

Provincial Information Minster, Ms. Shazia Marri, in her speech, congratulated the SPARK and said in majority cases increasing poverty had compelled the children to commit crimes. She further said during the six-month rule of PPP government, the number of prisoners has decreased from 20,000 to 18,000 in Sindh.

IG Jails Sindh Yameen Khan said that NGOs such as SPARC and philanthropists should have to come forward and donate clothes, medicines and financial assistance to juvenile prisoners.

Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly, Syeda Shehla Raza, highlighted the priorities of government in order to fulfill the dream of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for a progressive and developed Pakistan. Sadia Baloch, Kashif Bajeer and Nazra Jehan of SPARC highlighted the functions of their organisation and vowed that they would continue struggle for the rights of children.

Later, prizes and gifts were also distributed among juvenile prisoners who took part in various competitions such as singing, poetry, Naat and stage theatre.
