PML factions reject privatisation of Qadirpur gas field
November 13, 2008 All factions of the Muslim League have rejected the privatization of Qadirpur gas field. To a question on economic crisis, the chief of the PML(F), Pir Pigara said that the government could function only if International Monetary Fund (IMF) would allow it to do so. He questioned why Sindh’s assets were being sold only. In a press conference, leader of the PML(Q), Ch Parvez Elahi demanded that privatization of Qadirpur gas field and the IMF conditions should be debated in the parliament. He said that the government has accepted 12 IMF conditions which include banks’ interest rate and removal of subsidy. On the other hand, PML-N demanded that the sale of Qadirpur gas filed should be stopped and called for reduction of petroleum prices.
