Hesco to get power from country's first alternative energy project

KARACHI - The first ever alternative energy production project in Pakistan will start providing electricity to about 6900 homes in Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company (HESCO) region later this month.

Pakistan has vast wind power potential, which will be soon realised. As, Zorlu wind energy farm installed by Zorlu Energy Electricity Generation Inc. (an independent electricity production company based in Istanbul, Turkey), situated in Jhampir, 70 kms North East of Karachi are in the final stages of completion.

The facility with 6 MW installed capacity in the first phase is planned to be switched on at a ceremony expected to be performed by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. The power generated from the first phase would be evacuated to the Jhimpir Grid Station by HESCO.
