Qaim sees destabilising elements in Centre, Sindh

KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali told the Sindh Assembly on Saturday that certain elements wanted to destabilise the government both at the Centre and in Sindh. These elements were of the view that the present government did not deliver any thing.
He was highlighting the government’s achievements of economic, political and social sides on the floor of the assembly session. Later the assembly session was prorogued.
On the political front, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that it was a unique decision in the democratic history of Sindh all 11 senators with the cooperation of coalition partners were elected unopposed. He said that it was symbol of national reconciliation.
He thanked the leaders of coalition partners, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, PML (F) Chief Pir Pagaro, NNP leader Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, ANP leader Asfandyar Wali and former Sindh Chief Minister and PML (Q) leader Dr. Arbab Rahim for extending hands in the Senate elections.
Sindh Qaim Ali Shah disclosed that in the next session of the Sindh Assembly, National Peoples Party (NPP) would sit on treasury bench. The Chief Minister paid tributes to President Asif Ali Zardari for his political acumen and sagacity for carrying out the commitment of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto by initiating process of reconciliation, harmony and understanding to bring all democratic political forces together.All the democratic forces were united on the issues of Sindh, Mr. Shah declared.
On the economic front, the Chief Minister said that Sindh government has so far distributed 38000 acres of land of the total earmarked 0.2million acres of land amongst landless women haris in different districts of the province.
He said funds had been allocated in the provincial budget for the construction of 10000 houses for poor under Low Cost Housing Scheme and in this connection, 150 constructed houses would be handed over to deserving people till February 25 in Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Benazirabad and Larkana.
He said such houses would be constructed in Bin Qasim, Surjani Town Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Larkana and other areas.
He said that Sindh government has provided employment to 17000 persons in different government departments on merit and formalities was being completed in this regard.
However, under Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Programme Training Program, 50,000 youth would get training in various fields and would be given job after completion of their training, he said, adding that of which 18,000 youth have been inducted in training programme.
