Girls outshine boys in SSC Part II exam

KARACHI - As usual, girls outshined boys in the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) PART II - General Group for Private and Regular Annual Examination 2008, declared by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Monday.

The private schools have once again exposed the poor educational standard of government schools by bagging all the three top positions in the said examination.  

A student, Hira Qavi Khan d/o Abdul Qadir Khan od Saint Patrick’s Girls High School, has secured first position with 90.24 per cent marks in the examination. Mahrukh d/o Muhammad Idrees of Saint Lawrence Convent Girls Secondary School, and Sadia Aamir d/o Aamir Nadeem (PN Girls Secondary School Hanif SRE Karsaz, obtained second and third positions with 90.12 and 89.88 percentage.

As per detail, a total of 33,667 private and regular candidates were registered for the examination out of which 32,919 appeared and 19,497 candidates declared successful with an overall 59.23 percentage. As many as 15,226 regular students have been declared passed with 59.60 percentage and out of 25,897 registered candidates, 25,545 had appeared in the examination.

Conversely, a total of 7,770 private candidates got registered for the said exam, out of which 7,374 appeared and 4,271 were declared successful with 59.23 percentage.
