KARACHI - Scorching summer-stricken people Sunday took to streets after the continued and unscheduled loadshedding here in City.
The temperature remained around 40 C all the day and the relentless power outages by KESC added to the heat Karachiites faced Sunday.
Enraged people, after Iftar, came to different City roads and protested against the power-cuts, they chanted slogans against the government and pelted stones on the passing-by vehicles.
Scorching heat compelled people to come out on the streets and they staged protest demonstrations against the frequent loadshedding that kept haunting various areas including F B Areas, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Baloch Colony, Korangi Town, Landhi, Malir, Saddar Town, Jamshaid Town and DHA.
Scores of residents from Korangi, Landhi, Baloch Colony, Mehmoodabad, Chenasor Goth, Manzoor Colony and several other areas staged protest against the loadshedding and burnt tires and blocked the road.
They chanted slogans against the management of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) and demanded the restoration of the electricity on permanent basis.
Asim Bhatti, a resident of FB Area while talking to The Nation said that people had been suffering a lot, adding that despite of the prolonged loadshedding, there was no reduction in the monthly bills. He also said that government must have facilitated people during Ramazan.
Police and community police personnel tried to calm down the enraged people and also helped people negotiate the KESC officials.
