SHC allows formrt minister Altaf Unar to travel abroad

KARACHI (PPI) - Sindh High Court Monday allowed ailing former PML-Q Sindh Minister Haji Altaf Unnar to travel abroad.
Unar challenged placement of his name on Exit Control List in SHC, submitting he suffered from kidney disorders & obtained Indian visa for kidney transplantation at Bombay. But, Interior Ministry placed his name on ECL without prior notice.
His condition was deteriorating due to restriction on his movement, while visa would also lapse. He prayed to direct Interior Ministry to immediately remove his name from ECL. SHC division bench comprising Justice Mushir Alam & Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro allowed petition and permitted him to travel abroad.

Sindh High Court Monday issued notices for June 17, 2009 to Deputy Attorney General on bail applications filed by Muhammad Hanif Kalia, Abdul Munaf Kalia & Javed Khanani in alleged forex scam case.
Applicants, directors of Khanani & Kalia International, filed applications in SHC through Advocate Shaukat Hayat. Federal Investigation Agency arrested applicants in November 2008 in money laundering case.
According to prosecution, accused transferred billions of rupees abroad illegally. Cases under Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1947, Prevention of Electronic Crimes Ordinance 2007 & Pakistan Penal Code were lodged against them at FIA Crime Circle, Karachi & Lahore in 2008.
Counsel submitted challan in cases was already submitted in trial court, therefore, applicants may be granted post arrest bails.
SHC division bench, comprising Justice Nadeem Azhar Siddiqui & Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha, after preliminary hearing issued notice to Deputy Attorney General & others for June 17, 2009 to file comments.
Police directed to produce girl
Sindh High Court Monday directed police to produce a girl, detained by parents for marrying on her own choice, in court on June 22, 2009.
Petitioner Khalid Hussain, reporter of a Karachi-based newspaper, approached SHC citing Home Secretary, IG Police Sindh, TPO Matiari, SHOs PS Naushero Feroze, PS Tharoo Shah, PS Matiari & private respondents.
His counsel Noor Naz Agha submitted petitioner solemnised free will marriage with Mst. Hooran against consent of her family, who wanted to marry her to another person.
They attacked petitioner with intention to kill, but he escaped, while girl was tortured, detained by her parents to force for second marriage. Counsel prayed to direct police high ups recover girl, produce her in court & provide protection to couple.
