Success in GB polls is democracy’s triumph: Marri

KARACHI (APP) - Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri, on behalf of the Sindh government, congratulated the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidates who won Gilgit - Baltistan elections, saying that it was the success of democracy.
She said that Shaheed Zulfikar AIi Bhutto promoted the historic tradition of democracy in the country and introduced the concept of one man and one vote, now its beautiful results have come before us, said a statement issued here on Sunday. Marri said that following the great example of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the struggle for democracy was continued in undemocratic periods by people of country and this tradition was made stronger by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and the mission of democracy went on. She said that co-chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari following the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, had made democratic institutions strong and these efforts have brought results.
Marri said that the decision of President Asif Ali Zardari to introduce political structure in Gilgit-Baltistan by giving it the status of province, was admired by all the people.
She also congratulated Governor Baltistan, Qamar Zaman Kaira and successful candidates of other political parties. She in this regard also appreciated the efforts of the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza GiIani and requested to those political parties and individuals who blamed of rigging in these elections, to avoid such baseless allegations, as that will not suitable for democratic process.
She said that elections should be taken in democratic way and it was a great work of Pakistan Peoples Party who put the traditions to make democratic Institutions strong.
She said that the sacrifices of the workers of Pakistan People’s Party would be remembered forever in the history.
Marri added that Pakistan Peoples Party was striving to promote democratic culture and strengthen institutions therefore baseless and wrong statements should be avoided at this stage and we should use political wisdom by accepting defeats and victory because politics of allegations will give nothing to us. She said that today we are facing the enemies of Pakistan who basically are enemies of Islam, humanity, democracy and prosperity in country and we have to defeat these elements. She said that the wisdom of President Asif Ali Zardari is a great source of inspiration and courage for us, and all democratic requirements were fulfilled regarding Gilgit - Baltistan that is a history.
