Malir Jail riots: DSP among six suspended

KARACHI - Six policemen were suspended for negligence during the violence at the Malir Jail violence which claimed lives of four prisoners on Wednesday. Meanwhile, three police officials have been promoted to the next rank for showing extraordinary performance on this occasion.

Jail sources said that DSP Jail Qamar Raza Zadi was included among the suspended officials for poor performance during the violence.

Jail administration has sent 322 prisoners to different prisons of Sindh. A prisoner Kamran alias Kamo was critically injured during the incident and shifted to the Civil Hospital where his family said court had ordered his release but jail administration kept him in custody and demanded Rs 5,000/- to set him free. When he could not pay the money, they beat him harshly and thrown him out of the jail.
