JI holds rally to express solidarity with Dr Aafia

KARACHI - Jammat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter here on Sunday took out a huge rally to show solidarity with Dr Aafia Siddiqui who is detained in the United States and also against increasing US influence in the country.

JI rally started from Numaish Chowrangi and culminated at Tibet centre in which large numbers of JI workers including women participated.

JI caretaker chief Munawar Hassan, APDM Sindh Chief Asad-ullah Bhutto, Amna Masood Janjua of Defence of Humans Rights, Karachi Bar Association (KBA) President Mehmood-ul-Hassan, Islami-Tehreek leader Maulana Nazir Abbas Naqvi, JUP leader Siddique Rathor and other leaders addressed the rally.

The participants of the rally demanded the government to give a deadline about the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from US custody and avoid giving safe passage to President Musharraf. They further demanded reinstating of the deposed judges within two days after the impeachment of Musharraf and warned that they would not accept any minus-one formula.
