SHC grants bail to minister in murder case

KARACHI (PPI) - Sindh High Court Monday granted protective bail in sum of Rs 100,000 to Balochistan Minister for Communication & Works, Mir Sadiq Umrani, in murder case of five persons registered at Jacobabad in 2008.
Applicant Sadiq Umrani approached SHC, seeking protective bail before arrest in murder case registered at Meeranpur police station, Taluka Ghari Khairo, Jacobabad.
His counsel Syed Amjad Ali Shah submitted applicant Sadiq Umrani had dispute with rival Palal tribesmen of Sindh regarding contract of agricultural land in Naseerabad, Balochistan.
He contended a false FIR was registered naming Sadiq Umrani, his brothers Abdul Sattar, Raza Ali, Liaquat Ali, Abdul Latif, Lal Mohammad, Muheen, Shahnawaz Danghar & three unidentified people as accused in murder case.
According to prosecution, armed men on instigation of Sadiq
Umrani shot dead Begum Rani, her sons 18-year-old Abdul Qadir, six-year-old Fateh Mohammad, four-year-old Amir & two-year-old Nasir, at village Gulab Palal, Taluka Garhi Khairo on April 6, 2008.
Counsel stated his client, who is sitting MPA of Balochistan & chief of Umrani tribe, was named co-accused in challan submitted before Sessions Court, Jacobabad, but subsequently implicated in case on instigation of local police officers to settle score with applicant.
Applicant wanted to appear before trial Sessions Court in Jacobabad, but apprehended of being arrested. He prayed to grant protective bail to his client so that he could appear before trial court & join investigation.
Justice Amir Hami Muslim of Sindh High Court after hearing arguments said in order - “Without touching merits of case, applicant is granted protective bail in sum of Rs 100,000 surety to be furnished for satisfaction of SHC Nazir. Applicant is ordered to appear before Session Court & shall surrender in two weeks.”
