Petition filed in SHC for recovery of Dr Aafia

KARACHI - Human Rights Network (HRN) filed a petition with the SHC to retrieve back Pakistani national Dr. Afia Siddiqui who is missing from March 2003 and appeared recently in Afghanistan but later handed over to the United States.
Human Rights Network (HRN) filled a petition against the detention of Pakistani citizen Dr Aafia Siddiqi to USA government in Sindh High Court on Monday.
As per detail, Asim Sori and Imran Ahmed representatives of HRN have filled the petition against the detention and trial in USA’ court.
The petition alleged that Dr Aafia was on the way to airport for Islamabad along with her three children when US based intelligence agencies CIA and FBI took her to Guantanamo jail and later shifted her to USA. The petitioner made respondent to Federal Secretaries including, Defense, Interior, and Foreign Department and Home Department of Sindh. They claimed that along with Dr Aafia her three children including, the US government had also detained Ahmed, Sulaman, and Marryam. Mentioning the previous case of Ahmal Kahnsi, who had been arrested from Quetta in mid of 1995 and handed over to US government, the government had accepted their involvement in such matter and promised not to commit such illegal act again, but the pervious government had again committed such illegal act. The petitioners have said that her detention in US prison is illegal and she must be brought back to the country.
HEARING ADJOURNED
On the other side, a single bench of SHC of Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has adjourned the petition filed by Muhajer Quami Movement (MQM) leader Amir Khan against his ten years of imprisonment till first of December.
The leader of MQM had been convicted by the lower court under arms act and also charged in an attempt to murder case, he had been pronounced for imprisonment by the court.
COURT ISSUES SUMMON
In another court, the division bench of Sindh High Court comprised of Justice Khiji Arif Hussein and Justice Dr Qamaruddin Bohr has issued notice to the concerned authorities on the petition moved by Jalaluddin Kalpar Bugti alias Jalal against his life imprisonment, to be appeared to a date in office. The petitioner had been convicted for his involvement for killing Salal Bugti son of former Governor of Balochistan and Chief of JWP slain Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti by the lower of Balochistan.
