Two witnesses submit statements in Murtaza murder case
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER October 17, 2008 KARACHI - Two more witnesses of Mir Murtaza Bhutto murder cases on Friday submitted their statements before the Additional District and Sessions court East Karachi, the court was adjourned till October.17.
The hearing was conducted in the court of Judge Abdul Rehman Bhatti, where two witnesses including SP Clifton Azad Khan and a doctor of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center had submitted their statements.
Azad submitted that in the day of the incident, the high Police official Shakeeb Qureshi was not present on the spot. Meanwhile, the prosecutor said that Shakeeb was among the police officials, who were present on the occasion when the incident took place. Though, the prosecutor said that, on September 20, 1996, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, was returning home after attending a public meeting held in Yousuf Goth area, the outskirts of Karachi. He was accompanied by Ashiq Jatoi, Sattar Rajpar, Shajad Haider Ghakro, Rahim Brohi, Yar Mohammad Baloch, and Wajahat Jokhio. When he, along with his personnel security guards reached to some 100 metres from his residence located at 70 Clifton was shot dead along with six others, including his close aide Ashiq Jatoi, by a heavy contingent of police, in an alleged shootout. On the others side, District Session Judge South Arjun Ram Telri issued directives to the concerned police to proceed the case against TPO Jamsheed Town according to law. A petitioner Ezzat Bibi submitted that the TPO Jamsheed Town along with other his associates entered into her house on 10 October in the name of searching the house, while during the searching the said police official took away Rs 50,000 and gold Jewelries.
