Thaddo Dam Forest ready to produce honey, silk

The DO Forest department Saeed Ahmed Peerani, told the Nation that the forest department had planted such varieties of the tree which produce maximum flowers so that bee to be attracted on those trees sipping the juices of the flower and produce pure honey through natural procedure as complete study has been carried out in this regard.
The honey of wild (Beri) is unique and precious and Forest department has planted around 6 thousands trees in the Gadap town for this purposes, and Bee, its boxes and frames which to be used in the honey production are being set up here and the honey production would be started by the end of September, Mr Peerani said.  
The department had arranged the bees colonies bring here for this purposes. Each colony of bees has 10 frame and each frame is consist of 40 thousand bees, who produce 10 to 15 Kg honey just in one month time from each Bee hive, he said.     
Besides, to produce Silk from the Jungle trees of Malbari are being planted in the Forest, from where the Silkworm produce Silk, in the near future, the DO forest maintained.    
He also confirmed that a wild bushes tree of which Biological name is Indigofera Tinctoria, found across the river Indus two hundred years ago but later cut off or disappeared due to cultivation of other crops These wild bushes are proved the main sources of the production of Neel, which is used for dye cloths besides sued for colouring Blue to the cloths and vehicles and other things.
He said that a successful study had been carried for the cultivation of Neel in 1998, which would be implemented by the CDGK, soon. It may be noted that the tree of Indigofera Tinctoria is being used in various parts of the world to dye cloths and blue colouring of cloth and vehicles.
The chairman of Agriculture committee group of offices of CDGK Arif Bhatti said that the experiment of establishing the forest at Thaddo Dam has proved much successful and when production of honey would be started the other projects would be started as the planning’s of these project are in final stages, he said.
