Peaceful Karachi govt's top priority: Asif Zardari
By OUR STAFF REPORTER November 22, 2008 KARACHI - President Asif Ali Zardari has said that mutual consultation of Governor Sindh, Chief Minister, Home Minister and City Nazim Karachi is essential for good governance in the province.
He was presiding over a meeting which reviewed law and order in Karachi as well as in Sindh at the Governor House here.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik, Law Minister Farooq H Naek, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Finance Shaukat Tarin, PM’s Advisor on Petroleum Dr Asim Husain, Chairman Planning Commission Salman Farooqui, provincial ministers, City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and senior officials were present on the occasion.
President Asif Ali Zardari said Friday that a top priority of the government was to make Karachi a safe city in order to attract investment, promote industrialisation and boost the country’s economy. He vowed to provide full security to foreign investors in order to attract them for boosting industrialisation in the country.
The President said ensuring security and safety in Karachi was a big task and can be achieved with the help of modern technology and security equipment, community support and relentless efforts of all the stakeholders. “Take special measures to improve law and order in Karachi.
Security, security and security; this is my emphasis. This is the first priority. Use modern technology and involve communities for this purpose”, he said.
