KARACHI - The Divisional Bench of Sindh High Court on Wednesday recorded the statements of the Sindh chief secretary, secretary home department, director anti corruption, TPOs Kemari and Sadder Towns and others on the petition of Kamran Tessori’s mother-in-law.
The applicant Zaithoon Bibi, mother-in-law of gold trader Kamran Tessori, filed the petition before the bench comprises Justice Yasmeen Abbasi and Justice Bin Yameen.
The applicant stated that the police took away Kamran Tessori from his residence on June 15 and held him in Jackson police station. Later police handed over him to the anti corruption department, she said. She alleged that director anti corruption had demanded Rs 30 million for his (Tessori) release. “After getting the money he do not release him and taken him to the custody of interior Sindh police.”
They also submitted that the police and anti corruption department have been creating trouble for all the family members of his family and conducting various raids at their residences. The family members are also being harassed by the police, she said.
Meanwhile, the police officers recorded their statement before the bench, in which they declined the allegations and said that they had not harassed any member of the Tessori family. The police, however, said that they had only summoned Kamran Tessori for routine investigation.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Karachi South Hafeeza Usman on Wednesday issued directives to the police to register a case of kidnapping of Tessori. The bench adjourned till August 6 after recording the statements.
