Changes in LG system still in abeyance
By RAMZAN CHANDIO November 23, 2008 KARACHI - The Sindh Assembly session is starting from today (Monday) without legislative business on the agenda of the first day of the session.
According to sources, the difference between PPP and MQM still persist on the issue of amendments in present local government system introduced by former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
Sources confirmed that President Asif Ali Zardari during his meeting with the ministers and leaders of MQM in Karachi, had assured them that PPP will not abolish the present system of local government, but a bill would be presented in provincial assembly for amendments in the Sindh Local Government Ordinance. These amendments would be made with the consensus of MQM, the major coalition partner in provincial set up.
