CDGK faces Rs 25.3b fall in tax collection
By SYED INTIKHAB ALI August 25, 2008 The finance and planning department of CDGK targeted Rs 1,428,507,000 for the fiscal year 2007-08, and they collected Rs 616,215,655 which was the 43.14 per cent of the total target.
The rent of North Nazimabad flats were remained insufficient and only Rs 84,000 were collected during the last fiscal year.
The agriculture and veterinary department, however could not meet the target but they successfully collected appropriate amount for CDGK as Rs 40,325,012 was collected by them which is the 53.53 per cent of total target. The target was Rs 75,325,000.
Their main income sources were the entrance of fees of the animal vehicles in the slaughterhouses in Landhi and North Karachi from where they collected Rs 819,709 and Rs 2,583,585, respectively.
The most successful results pertaining to the tax collection achieved to the Community Development Department (CDD), however it was 57.62 per cent as they collected Rs 39,037, 675 taxes from various sources.
Karachi Zoological Garden, Safari Park, Landhi-Korangi Zoo were proved most earning points of CDGK which showed that if entertainment facilities to be provided to the Karachiites, the CDGK would not go into loss.
However, if CDD authorities pay attetnion on other sides of the department the revenue would increased beyond expectations. It may be noted that presence of elephant in the zoo and Safari Park is very essential while both of the places of CDGK, neither an elephant nor some other important animals are present in the zoo and Safari Park, but despite this fact people thronged to these places.
