CDGK faces Rs 25.3b fall in tax collection
By SYED INTIKHAB ALI August 25, 2008 Kashmir Road Sports Complex is one of the finest and luxurious property of CDGK but due to the incompetent officers and policymakers of city government they did not understand the importance of the place which is situated in the heart of the City.
If Kashmir Road Sports Complex to be used properly and involved maximum number of sportsmen and sportswomen beside sports associations regarding organising national and international events at this place, one can imagine how much the place value will increased. But the short-sighted officers only satisfied by the earnings of marriage ceremonies held in the Kashmir Road Sports Complex.
The same thing was happened with Pakistan’s first Women Sports Complex, situated in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, which is also failed to attract 50 per cent population of the women since several years.
The revenue collected from Kasmir Road Sports Complex is Rs 1,480,046 which is 15.58 per cent of the total target Rs 378,60 set by the CDGK authorities during the fiscal 2007-08.
Safari Park, Karachi Zoo and Landhi-Korangi Zoo achieved handsome amount from the gate money and fees to other entertainment facilities.
Safari Park received Rs 2,283,300 which is 98.76 per cent of the tax collection, The entrance fees from Karachi Zoo received Rs 8,787, 832 which is the 86.16 per cent
It may be noted that CDGK is facing financial crisis during the present fiscal year of 2008-09, and time has come to take concrete steps and a planed strategy to collect the taxes and revenue which is lying unattended past several years in different heads and due to lethargy and incompetence of the concerned authorities CDGK always deprive to reached the appropriate target of tax collection every year.
