Lawyers observe strike, vow to continue struggle

He said that the people of the country have given mandate to democratic forces in the name of restoration of free judiciary    

President KBA Mehmoodul Hassan said the after the February 18 election, the people were hopeful for restoration of free judiciary and reinstatement of deposed judges but the rulers have disappointed the nation.

He alleged that the present regime was following the policies of previous the government as the people had not observed any positive change in the country.

KBA General Secretary Naeem Qureshi said that as per decisions taken in lawyers’ convention held in Lahore, lawyers’ movement would remain continued till the achievement of the set goals.

Other prominent leaders of the legal fraternity also spoke on the occasion and alleged that the President had attacked and ruined all pillars of democracy including parliament, judiciary and media to prolong his rule. They insisted that the time has come for the political parties to join the movement for the restoration of independent judiciary.

Later, a rally was taken out at MA Jinnah Road which blocked the traffic for several hours.
