Government release 99 Indian fishermen
November 25, 2008 Pakistan released 99 Indian fishermen, detained for crossing into its waters, as a “goodwill gesture” on Tuesday. They were freed from the Malir Jail of the metropolis today. The decision to release the Indian prisoners, detained during October to December 2006 from its territorial water, was taken at the federal level. The jail administration had received a notification in this regard from the Home Ministry on Monday. According to jail officials, they were released at 11:00 am today. The fishermen released from the Malir jail were very pleased. A local non-government organization (NGO) received them after being released.
