Goods transporters call off strike
By RAMZAN CHANDIO August 26, 2008 He estimated that over $4.2 million dollars loss has been occurred to cement industry while financial losses to national exchequer were in addition to it.
He said the foreign trade, especially exports of other sectors would suffer badly in case the strike goes on further.
The manufacturers were of the view that they trying to persuade the foreign buyers because they were not able to meet the export orders, he said and cautioned that if this strike continues for next few days, the foreign buyers might cancel the export orders.
Cement manufacturer informed that they used their vehicles to bring the cement at port but some elements tried to damage them.
Yasin Siddiq vice chairman All Pakistan Textile Mills Association without giving any figure of financial loss to textile sector said the strike of good carriers transport has affected negatively the foreign trade of the country.
