Small traders observe shutterdown strike
By RAMZAN CHANDIO July 26, 2008 KARACHI - Small traders in the city observed shutterdown strike on Friday against the government’s recent move of raising the prices of petroleum products.
While a clear division witnessed between the representative bodies of small traders over the call of shutter down strike as Karachi Tajir Ittehad and other trade bodies in the city had already distanced themselves from the strike.
The Alliance of Market Association Chairman Atiq Mir, who had announced shutter down call, claimed the traders were expressing their resentment against the government’s anti-people policies and voluntarily closed their business.
