Work on Sports Complex to start soon

By SYED INTIKHAB ALI July 26, 2008

KARACHI - Provincial Sports Minister Dr Muhammad Ali Shah has said that Sindh government is going to start construction of much-awaited Sports Complex at M.A. Jinnah Road, being delayed for more than 35 years due to various reasons depriving the citizens of state-of-the-art indoor games facilities.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of 1st CDGK Roller Skating National Championship as a chief guest at CDGK Sports Complex Kashmir Road on Friday, Dr Shah said that the construction of the Sports Complex at M. A. Jinnah Road was the longstanding demand of the sportsmen and sportswomen of the province but it was delayed due to various bureaucratic and political hurdles.

Its construction work was started in 1973-74 but after completion of the basement and pillars, it was abandoned and since then subjected to unnecessary delay under one pretext or the other.
