Environment issues raised with DHA

KARACHI - Sindh Minister for Environment Hasan Askari Taqvi and MNA Khushbakht Shujaat visited DHA Main Office here Tuesday and discussed environmental issues and matters relating to public interest with the Administrator DHA, Brig Khalid Tirmizi.
They were given a briefing on the ongoing projects in DHA including the Waterfront Development Projects (WFD) and the measures taken by the Housing Authority to mitigate the ensuing environmental issues.
The minister underlined the need of conducting joint quarterly review and monitoring of mitigation measures taken by DHA in line with IEE approved by SEPA. He said that speedy execution of WFD projects should be ensured in the national interest while addressing the environmental concerns at all cost.
The Minister was informed that DHA was making all out efforts to ensure that WFD projects remained strictly environmental friendly, met NEQs and mitigate all concerns of public. Every WFD project would have an in-build sewerage treatment plant to mitigate beach pollution.
