Three students, watchman killed in varsity firing

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi, Wasim Ahmed, told the newsmen that the deceased were identified as Muhammad Ramesh a student of B.Sc. Part I Information Technology Department, Abdul Jabbar, Osama Bin Adam and a watchman of the university. He further said that four other students including Kashif, Maaz Farooqi, Asad, Maaz Ahmed and two others sustained serious injuries in the bloody clash that took place between the activists of Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT) and All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO).

The CCPO said the situation at the Campus has been brought under control.

Meanwhile, the Karachi University administration has shut the institution for two days Wednesday (today) and Thursday.

This was announced by the spokesman of Karachi University on Tuesday evening. He said that there was also firing in the campus on Tuesday in which some of the students sustained injuries.

The law enforcement agencies have arrested nearly 40 students on charges of violence. Resultantly, angry students vandalised the KU administration offices and tortured Students Adviser Ms Nusrat Idrees and other members of Advisory Committee, including Dr Saleem Shahzad and Sadiq Ali.
