Workers decry privatisation of garbage-lifting

He said now the same work force, vehicles, equipment and facilities were being handed over to a private firm. He said using same resources only with the chance of administration was a big question mark on the efficiency of present city government administration.

He said that although they held protest demonstrations at KPC and Sindh Assembly building, and held meetings with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Minister for Local Bodies Aga Siraj Durran, but the government was not giving serious consideration to their plights.

He said that the minister had sought a complete report into the matter but even then nothing happened.

The labor leaders demanded of the city government to remove employees’ apprehensions by clarifying the terms of their employment, salaries, overtimes, pensions, gratuity, funds, medical facilities and others.
