KARACHI - Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq assured the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday that the services of ad-hoc lecturers would not be terminated and they had been asked to appear in the test to be held by the Public Service Commission.
“Once the candidates pass through the Public Service Commission test they would be provided permanent appointment, he said.
Pir Mazhar’s statement on the floor of the assembly came as a sigh of relief to hundreds of ad-hoc lecturers who recently protested in front of the assembly gate demanding permanent employment.
The senior minister, who was giving statement under rule 215, said that 700 posts of lecturers would be filled through Public Service Commission test, adding that with permission of Chief Minister the date of test has been extended with a view to accommodate the ad-hoc lecturers.
When the opposition PML (F) member Arif Mustafa Jatoi asked that what would happen to those lecturers who would fail to clear the Pubic Service Commission and asked would they not be given the appointment.
At this point Sindh Information Minister Ms. Shazia Marri intervened and said was the member trying to question the competence of the ad-hoc lecturers. Pir Mazhar rebutting the opposition member said that Mr. Jatoi was trying to gain political mileage by making such a statement.
