Public varsities forced to borrow loans

Moreover, the government, in the federal budget, did not increase the higher education budget, as per the practice of the last governments. Besides the said three universities, more than 59 public sector universities of the country are suffering from financial crisis due to refusal of the federal finance ministry to release the HEC fourth quarterly instalment.

A senior official of the FUUAST, on a condition of the anonymity, said that the FUUAST administration was still suffering with financial crises, while the government did not taking a notice of financial hardships of the public universities.

 "The current situation or the government polices, pertaining to the higher education sector, is forcing to the varsities administration to resolve the financial crises through bank's loans. There is no option to handle the problem," he added.
