Karachi - Tens of thousands of Jamaat-e-Islami’s supporters staged “Go America Go” rally on Sunday to condemn the US. interference into Pakistani affairs and its drone attacks in northern areas.
“No to American imperialism,” “No to U.S. hegemony” and “America leave this region” were the slogans the demonstrators shouted.
The youngsters torched the effigies of the U.S. President Barack Obama to vent their anger against the killings of civilians in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq. They declared the U.S. a world terrorist nation-state.
Carrying the JI, Islami Jamiat Talba and Shabab-e-Milli’s flags, they also demanded release of the missing persons especially Dr Afia Siddiqui from the U.S. jail.
The protestors reached Numaish Chowrangi in small rallies from every nook and cranny of Karachi. Elderly persons, veiled women and their children plus youths, were seen moving to the venue in buses, cars and motorcycles respectively.
Announcements were made round the clock at reception camps where Jamaat’s typical songs were also played to attract masses.
The JI members argued that Pakistan’s sovereignty and independence was put at stake and Pakistani rulers were not free in their decisions.
The JI leaders insisted that four-nations alliance should be formed to contain U.S. influence and force the U.S. to leave the region. The proposed alliance should comprise of Pakistan, Iran, China and Afghanistan.
