KESC owes Rs65.35b to Wapda, SSGC, PSO

By SADIA SAEED August 30, 2008

They said that the KESC had collapsed financially and operationally due to mismanagement as a result the mega city of the country was embracing the worst-ever loadshedding that had crippled the daily life in Karachi. The situation is worst then ever as the top-level management has resigned from their posts. Interestingly, the company has survived the situation of working without the MD for last two months. Now this deteriorated situation has raised questions over the working credibility of the KESC.

Meanwhile, the recurring state of unscheduled loadshedding continues in the City. During last 24 hours, the citizens of Karachi face the deficiency of 600 to 700MWs of power utility. The working of Bin Qasim power plant remained below the mark as the Unit 1 and 4 remained non-operational.

A senior official of SSGC explained on Friday clarified that the PSO arrears towards the KESC including overdue amount of Rs 2.70 billion have piled up to Rs 8.60 billion by August 2008.
