Corrupt doctors to face inquiry

By SYED INTIKHAB ALI July 30, 2008

The City Nazim suspended a lab technician on charges running personal laboratory just outside the hospital. A CDGK spokesman said that lab technician Javed Majeed misguided the poor patients that test facility was not available in the Pathological department of the Hospital. The accused used to send the poor patients to his own private laboratory, Karachi National Lab, established just outside the ASH to mint money in collaboration of various doctors and paramedics.

Mustaf Kamal visited various wards and met with the patients and inquired them about the availability of medicines and laboratory tests.

The patients informed him that they were directed by the hospital staffers to get medical tests from a laboratory established outside the hospital. The city nazim took serious notice of these complaints and ordered the dismissal of lab technician Javeed Majeed.

He further directed the medical committee to probe into the corruption of doctors who prescribed the laboratory test outside the ASH.

He expressed utter annoyance that despite the establishment of a new laboratory at the ASH at a cost of worth Rs 40.5 million, patients were forced to get test from private lab.
