PPP, ANP gives cold shoulder to deposed CJ
By FAHEEM RAZA AND NISAR MEHDI July 30, 2008 KARACHI - Coalition partners, PPP and ANP, which played frontline role on May 12, 2007 to welcome the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry have disassociated themselves to give rousing welcome to the CJP here on Tuesday.
These parties were following the paths of their coalition partner in the Sindh government, MQM, which from the very first day disassociated itself from the movement of restoration of judiciary.
It may be noted here that in May 2007, PPP and ANP workers along with their central leaders were more enthusiastic and despite blockade by the PML-Q-led government in the metropolis to welcome the rallies of deposed CJ. PPP, ANP and other party activists and lawyers reached at the Karachi airport to receive the CJP.
