By FAHEEM RAZA AND NISAR MEHDI July 30, 2008

PPP Acting Information Secretary Waqar Mehdi told The Nation that it’s our party policy that none of our political workers and central leaders were participated in recent rallies held in honour of deposed chief justice in Lahore, Multan and Peshawar.

“Our workers always followed the party line and we have decided to not participate in rallies held in honour of deposed chief justice. The Sindh government has provided all the facilities which were demanded by the lawyers’ representatives including providing foolproof security arrangements to the CJP,” he added.

Mehdi said that media witnessed that on May 12, 2007 PPP and ANP were assembled in large numbers than by the JI, PML-N and APDM parties.

Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh Secretary General, Ameen Khattak said that ANP workers were not participated in welcoming ceremony due to Sindh High Court Bar Association’s president Rashid Rizvi and other lawyers’ representatives attitude who had not invited ANP in the meeting which arranged reception in honour of the deposed CJ.
