276 students awarded graduation degrees

Karachi (PPI) - Aga Khan University (AKU) Saturday held its 21st Convocation ceremony marking the graduation of 276 students in the fields of medicine, nursing and education.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister, Sindh, was the chief guest at the ceremony attended by the University’s Board of Trustee members, senior government officials, national and international academicians, donors, students and their families.
Dr Mohammad Khurshid, Dean of AKU Medical College carried the University blazon this year ahead of the procession of faculty and students. The ceremony was held at the University campus on Stadium Road.
Aga Khan University School of Nursing awarded 67 Diplomas in General Nursing, 28 Post Registered Nurse Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Post-RN BScN), 33 BScN, and 12 Master of Science in Nursing degrees to nursing students.
The Medical College awarded degrees to 80 Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), 4 Master of Science (MSc) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, 4 MSc in Health Policy and Management, 6 MSc in Clinical Research, and 3 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Health Science candidates.
The Institute for Educational Development awarded 39 Master of Education (MEd) degrees to candidates.
Professor Dr Sheikh Arshad Saeed was conferred the title of Distinguished University Professor Emeritus, while the Best Graduate Award was presented to Dr Roomasa Channa, and the Valedictorian was the Institute for Educational Development graduate, Ms Shamsah Raheem Dhanani.
3 govt schools in Lyari provided with water coolers, filters
Three government schools located in Lyari Town have been provided with water coolers and filters. The Sindh Minister for Human Rights, Ms. Nadia Gabol, visited these schools on Saturday and handed over water coolers and filters for the provision of clean drinking water to the students. The schools are - Government Girls Secondary School Gharibabad, Government Girls Secondary school Kalakot and Government Boys secondary school Rexer Lane.
The water coolers and filters have been made available under the government’s Lyari development schemes.
On the occasion, Ms. Nadia Gabol also called for improving the condition of the schools’ buildings and provision of water, electricity as well as furniture etc.
