KARACHI - The irrigation water shortage in Sindh has increased to 26.66 per cent in current Kharif season, officials told The Nation on Monday.

But the officials of Sindh Irrigation Department are predicting around 50 per cent shortage in Kharif season which may badly affect the crops in province. The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has already estimated the 34 per cent shortage of water in current Kharif season in all over the country.

Keeping in view the estimated shortage, IRSA has allocated the water share on historical basis of Water Accord 1991 for four provinces.
