FM100 airs Achay Dost for youngsters

KARACHI - An interesting radio program Achay Dost ‘good friends’ has been launched on FM100 for students and children, highlighting youth and children issues in communities.
Its first show was on Monday, 28th of September’s night. This program is being presented in collaboration with UNICEFF, iEearn - Pakistan and the Sindh ministry of Social Welfare.
The country director iEarn-Pakistan, Farah S.Kamal, said that the first show was very much impressive, with record number of emails, phone calls received from listners.
She said that this is a project iEARN-Pakistan (Society for Intl Educ.) is doing in collaboration with UNICEF and the Ministry of Social Welfare-Sind.
She expressed that the program Achay Dost, which is broadcasting focusing child protection, highlighting youth and children issues in communities. Youth also work with Listener Groups set at different schools and organisations to bring awareness about child protection issues. There will be 28 interactive radio programs of one hour every Monday for the next 4 months.
The project is primarily running as part of the iEARN Alumni programming.
To run the broadcast, the iEARN Pakistan team have selected a group of round about 25 young people who in the past have participated in different iEARN online projects. iEARN team and professionals have researched, help plan , train, develop and provide admin support to these students to run the shows effectively.
Several key post in the program management team is held by the fresh graduates.
Fariha Ayub is the RJ (host) on every show, whereas Abdullah of the iEARN Youth will be the penalist on every show to talk on particular issue related to child protection and youth issues, and will respond to listeners calls with guidance and also present a radio drama focusing the issue for the week.
She said that the people fond of programme could tune in to Karachi-FM100 every Monday 10:00-11:00pm.
