Hearing of plea against PML-N MNA put off

LAHORE - An election tribunal of the Lahore High Court adjourned hearing of an election petition filed by former federal minister Humayon Akhter seeking disqualification of PML-N MNA Rohail Asghar who won election from NA-124 Lahore.

Petitioner’s counsel Alia Ijaz sought time to seek instructions from her client as he was not in the country. At this the court adjourned the hearing till November 07.

Humayon alleged that Rohail Asghar manipulated and rigged the election process by extending life threats to polling staff and his polling agents. He said his (Rohail) armed men restored indiscriminating firing on the polling day that created terror and sense of insecurity in the voters. Resultantly lot of his voters did not prefer to cast vote.

He requested the court to de-seat Rohail Asghar and hold fresh polls in the constituency.
