Malik sees foreign hand in tribal areas unrest

He said government was determined to maintain law and order in the troubled areas at any cost, and was not afraid of the militants. The operation has been halted only in view of the sanctity of holy month of Ramadan, he added.

About his meeting with the JI leader, he said he briefed Qazi Hussain Ahmad about ongoing military operation in tribal areas and sought suggestions from him to control the menace of terrorism in the region.

To a question, Rehman clarified that country’s spy agencies were operating only in the interest of motherland.

Talking about suicide attacks, he said such acts had no place in Islam. Giving details of investigations into the Wah Cantonment blasts, Malik disclosed that three suicide bombers managed to blow themselves up, while the fourth one was arrested, who later revealed during investigation that he was told about presence of English people in the factory.

To a question, he said that the law enforcement agencies had arrested some suicide bombers who had been assigned the task to attack certain places on August 13 and 14 in the country.
